05/30/2024 - Text Messaging Enabled for All Contacts, Enhancements to the Customer Portal, Display Site Address on the Portal Request Details Modal, Permissions Descriptions, & Fixes

The items mentioned below will be available on or after May 30, 2024. To see these new features, please perform a hard refresh in your browser and update your mobile app to the latest version (9.4.23). Here's how to Get the Latest Version of ServiceCore.

Messaging Enabled for All Site Contacts

With this release, for customers using Pro Messaging, we have updated the default status for all customer and contacts on. Over the course of our beta test and our since the launch of Pro Messaging in early April, we have heard continued feedback that the effort of enabling messaging for each Customer and Site Contact is overwhelming. Based on your feedback, we have updated messaging to be an opt-out experience rather than opt-in.

With this change and breaking from our existing pattern, we are no longer sending the Intro Message to Site Contacts when you enable messaging for that contact, but directly prior to when they would receive their first message. This means that the Intro Message will still be the first message users receive and will be coupled with relevant information of why you are sending them text messages.

You will still be able to turn messaging off for any site contacts you wish through the same methods you previously enabled messaging. Messages will still only be sent to Site Contacts.

Enhancements to the Customer Portal

Enable Text Messaging for Site Contacts

With this release, your customers can now enable text messaging for site contacts directly from the customer portal. To enable text messaging, navigate to Settings > Sites & Contacts > Site Details. If text messaging is enabled for your company, an "Enable Text Messaging" toggle will appear. Switching this on will enable text messaging for that site contact and send them a notification text message. Toggling it off will remove text messaging capabilities for that user.

User Access Restrictions

With this release, we have made the following updates:

  • Prevent Self-Removal of Portal Access: Company contacts can no longer remove their own access from the customer portal.
  • Prevent Self-Deletion of Contact Information: Company contacts can no longer delete their own contact information from the portal.

Display Site Address on the Portal Request Details Modal

With this release, the site address is now displayed on the portal request details modal in ServiceCore. This enhancement makes it easier to identify the specific site and address your customer is requesting service for.

Permissions Descriptions

With this release, we added user-friendly descriptions to the permissions table. Additionally, if you hover over the permission, you'll see the full length of the description for those longer details.

Fixes

Payment succeeds but does not redirect to Confirmation Page when emails request fails: With this release, we fixed an issue when certain roles would submit payment, but not be redirected to the payment confirmation page. In this scenario, the payment would go through, however by not being redirected to the payment confirmation page, it would appear as if the payment was unsuccessful.

QBD Sync Log not populated on page load: With this release, we fixed an issue when users who have the QBD integration enabled would go to the QBD sync log, the report would show no results by default, even if there were actually results to be shown.
