Create an Itemized Inventory Product and Add Inventory Items

If you rent products that you need to track individually, the article below will explain how to add an inventory product and how to add serialized inventory. ServiceCore accepts serial numbers and barcodes to identify individual items.

Before You Start

Here are some things to know before you begin this process:

  • You will need Admin or Owner level permission in order to add or edit inventory
  • You will need to download the ServiceCore Mobile App from Google play (Android) or the App Store (Apple) in order to scan barcodes for individual items
  • Individual items must be added to your inventory using the ServiceCore web app before scanning barcodes using the ServiceCore Mobile App
  • At this time you cannot add new inventory products or items using the mobile app, you can only scan barcodes

Create an Itemized Inventory Product

To create a new itemized inventory product in your ServiceCore account, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Settings page
  2. Click the Inventory tab
  3. In the Products tab, click Add Product
  4. Type the product Name
  5. Type the Brand and Size (optional)
  6. Check Yes for the Itemized product? field
  7. Choose a Category and enter a Description (optional)
  8. When you're finished, click Save

After you create a new product

Now that you have an itemized inventory product, there are a few things you should know:

  • If you did not check the Yes checkbox for Itemized product? in Step 6 above, that's ok! It's easy to fix. Follow the four steps below before you go any further.

On the page for the new product you just created:

  1. Click Edit Product
  2. Click Delete product in the lower right corner
  3. In the popup that appears, click Confirm Delete
  4. Start again from Step 1 in the Create an Itemized Inventory Product section above

Add Inventory Items

Now that you have a new itemized product, you can start adding serialized inventory items for this product.

Please keep these things in mind when adding serialized inventory:

  • You can only add serialized inventory using the ServiceCore website application
  • You can scan barcodes for serialized inventory only when using the ServiceCore mobile app
  • Please make sure to add serialized inventory before attempting to scan barcodes

To add serialized inventory to your new product, follow these steps:

  1. While still on your new Product page
  2. Scroll down to the Product items section
  3. Click Add Item
  4. Type in the Serial number of the item
  5. Type in the Color of the item (optional)
  6. Once you're finished, click Add New Item
  7. Repeat steps 1 to 6 above to add additional items

After you finish adding items
