Managing inventory during service jobs is possible using the ServiceCore mobile app. Inventory management includes the option to add itemized inventory to jobs by choosing serial numbers, or by scanning barcodes or QR codes.
Before You Start
Here are a few things to know before you manage inventory for service jobs using the ServiceCore Mobile App:
- Technicians should download inventory before leaving cell phone or Wifi coverage by following the steps in this article: Manage Inventory While Offline Using the Mobile App
- All itemized inventory that uses barcodes or QR codes has been scanned and added, by following these steps to associate barcodes and QR codes to inventory items
- Inventory can only be recorded during a service job after the job has been started and is in progress
- Once a job has been started and is in progress, it cannot be paused or stopped, it can only be completed
- To "reset" a job so it can be started again, this can only be completed using the ServiceCore web app
How to Manage Inventory During Service Jobs Using the Mobile App
To manage inventory during a service job using the ServiceCore Mobile App, follow these steps:
- If you haven't done so yet, tap Start Job at the bottom of the job screen
- Get driving directions to the item if needed
- Scroll to the Inventory section
- Tap on the (+) icon to view inventory
- For each product you will see the product and items that should be serviced
What Kind of Inventory Are you Managing on This Job?
Depending on what kind of inventory you will be managing on this job, jump to the appropriate sections below:
Bulk Inventory
If this job is only managing bulk inventory (inventory without serial numbers):
- Manage the inventory at the job site
- To take photos, scroll to the Attachments section
- Tap the Take Photo button
- Continue adding photos of inventory items
- Tap Complete Job at the bottom of the screen

Itemized Inventory
Update GPS for Itemized Inventory with Barcodes or QR Codes
If any of your inventory uses barcodes or QR codes, follow these steps:
- Tap on the barcode icon
- Scan the barcode or QR code
- Wait for the scan to finish
- You will see the item you scan with an updated GPS timestamp (scanning the barcode automatically captures the GPS location of the unit)
- Repeat scanning any additional units
Update GPS for Itemized Inventory without Barcodes or QR Codes
If any of your itemized inventory doesn't have barcodes or QR codes, follow these steps:
- Tap on the map pin icon for the item you want to update GPS coordinates
- Wait for the GPS coordinates to update
- Repeat scanning any additional units
Record Condition and Usage
- To record the condition and usage of any item, tap on the item serial number
- On the Update item screen, type in any notes about the item's Condition
- Tap on the Usage field
- Choose the Usage (light, medium, heavy)
- Tap Ok
- Tap Save
- Repeat the steps above to record condition and usages for any other items
