When the phone is ringing off the hook, do you really have time to bother looking up whether your customer is in your service area?
Instead of wasting time opening a map and searching an address, you could have Territories set up in ServiceCore tell you this the instant you plug in the customer's address.
In this article we'll go over territories, how to set them up, and how they work.
Before You Start
Before adding Territories, please keep this in mind:
- You must have Manager, Admin or Owner level permission to add or edit Territories.
- Territories cannot overlap.
- Territories can only have one driver and piece of equipment assigned to them at a time.
How to Create Territories
Follow these steps to add Territories:
-
- Navigate to the Settings page
- Click on the Schedule Settings tab
- Click on the Territories Tab
- Click Add New Territory
- Start by Drawing The Territory Perimeter
-
A. Map | Satellite - Allows you to toggle between Map & Satellite views depending on your preference.
B. Hand Tool - Click this when you need to grab the map and move it around to hone in on your target location.
C. Draw a Shape Tool - Click when you're ready to start drawing your territory's perimeter.
D. Zoom - Click the plus (+) or minus (-) to zoom in and out as needed.
E. Full Screen Mode - When the territory building gets intense, this will let you view the map using your full screen.
- Click the Draw a Shape Tool
- Start clicking on the map where you want the territory to start.
- Every time your click on the map you will create another section of the territory that can be used later to further expand or contract the size of your territory.
- Once you have "connected your dots" and drawn the territory, you can enter in a Territory Name and select a Color to represent the territory.
After you create a new territory
Now that your territory is created you'll notice them in a few places.
First, when a new order is being placed and a site is added, you'll immediately see which territory that Job would fall under.
This is an easy way for you to see if the orders you are receiving make sense to take.
Secondly, your territories will also be visible from the Schedule Screen.
This makes it simple for your dispatchers to tell at a quick glance which territory the driver is going to. It also makes reshuffling route simpler, as you can color match jobs to specific drivers to build out your route in a more efficient manner.
Pro Tip: If a job has a "Gray" color bar next to it on the schedule, this means the job is not located within existing territories.
