Price Books on Rentals and Estimates

After price books came out, have you put any more thought into what you're going to do with those filing cabinets full of three ring binders sitting in your office right now with pages of information about the prices you charge customers for products and services?

In ServiceCore you can now digitize and organize price rules for residential and municipal customers. You can create price books for sites in different territories. Or create custom price books for your VIP customers or special accounts.

What Can I Do Starting Today?

To see where and how to create price books in your account, check out this step-by-step guide: How to Create Price Books in Settings.

Once you've created a price book or two, you will now see price books rate options appear on more accounting transaction forms. This means that instead of only the standard/default rate appearing when you add services, you'll be able to choose from price book rates. The new price book rate options will appear on these forms:

Create Rental
Create Estimate

What Will I See On Forms?

On these forms, when a price book applies to a service line item, you'll see a list of price books to choose from in the Rate field, like this:

If you choose nothing, the standard/default rate will apply to that line item. If you choose one of the price book rate options, the Rate field will be replaced with the new dollar amount.

Surcharges

We have improve how surcharges are calculated on historical invoices. The table below explains what would happen before vs what will happen now if you edit an invoice with surcharges:

Given this scenario...

January 1
1. Create a 5.0% surcharge in settings
2. Create a $105.00 invoice (subtotal $100.00 + 5.0% surcharge = $105.00)
3. Record $105.00 payment for this same invoice so the invoice becomes paid
January 2: Go to the surcharge in settings and change it to 6.0%
January 3: Edit the same $105.00 invoice

Before

Now

When editing the January 1 invoice in January 3...

The surcharge would update automatically to 6.0%
The invoice total would change to $106.00
After saving the invoice, it would become unpaid with a remaining balance of $1.00

When editing the January 1 invoice in January 3...

The surcharge will stay at 5.0% (the rate at the time of creation)
The invoice total will remain $105.00
After saving the invoice, it will remain paid with a remaining balance of $0.00

Note: If your intention is to edit the invoice to apply the NEW 6.0% rate, follow these steps:

Edit the invoice
Delete the original 5.0% surcharge
Add the new 6.0% surcharge

Credit Memos: We have resolved an issue where duplicate credit memos were being created if you clicked the "Cancel" link in the "Email Credit Memo" popup.
Repeat Jobs: We have resolved an issue where the end date was not being saved when creating a new repeat job.
Job Completion Form: We have resolved an issue where serial numbers were becoming unchecked automatically on the job completion form if the serial number was on the second or higher page in the list of serial numbers.
Mobile Job Attachments: We have resolved an issue where attachments added to jobs using the mobile app while in offline mode would fail to save to the job and sync to the web app. Please download the latest version 9.1.1 of the mobile app to receive this update from Google Play (Android) or App Store (iOS).
