USA: Set Up Your Card Integration With Fiserv (Apply for a Merchant Account)

This is for USA-based businesses only; if you're a Canadian-based business, please click here.

Accepting online payments is a key part of any modern business and one of the most important features of the ServiceCore platform.

To take advantage of the efficiency and time savings that come with online payments, the first step is applying for a merchant account through our 3rd party payment processing partner, Fiserv.

Once you're approved, you can set up your CardPointe account (offered/managed by Fiserv) and begin processing credit and debit card payments.

Please Note: In order to accept ACH (bank) payments, you'll need to go through a separate approval process.

Before You Start

Here are a few things to know before you continue:

  • You must be the Account/Business Owner in order to apply for a merchant account.
  • You'll need the following information in order to apply for a merchant account:
    • The date of birth for every business owner with 25%+ ownership stake.
    • The social security number for every business owner with 25%+ ownership stake.
    • The home address for every business owner with 25%+ ownership stake.
    • Your business Tax ID.
    • Your business bank account's Account Number and Routing Number.

Apply for Your Merchant Account

In order to set up a credit/debit card integration between your ServiceCore account and Fiserv, you'll first need to apply for a merchant account.

It's a specialized business bank account that enables your business to accept and process card transactions. Your business must partner with a merchant-acquiring bank that'll facilitate all communications around a digital transaction.

When you have the information listed above, follow the below instructions:

  1. From inside your ServiceCore account, click on your name in the top right corner.
  2. Click on "Settings" in the menu that appears.
  3. Click into "Accounting".
  4. Click into "Payment Processing".
  5. Click on "Get Started".

  6. Click on the checkbox next to "I'm not a robot".
  7. Click on "Begin Your Application".

  8. Fill in all of your business information, especially legal business name, contact information, and tax ID. This is a legal document, so everything must match your legal business entity's information exactly.

Please Note: The Selected Industry section should have '4900 - Utilities' pre-selected. Please leave this section as-is because this is what allows the integration to work for your bank.

  9. Fill in all of your Business Owner information, one owner at a time.

TIP: Use the 'Are there additional owners who own, directly or indirectly, 25% or more equity interest in the business?' question at bottom to enter more owners.
  10. Click on "Ok. Looks. great, let's move on!" at the bottom.

  11. Enter your business banking information. This bank account will be used for both deposits and withdrawals of funds.

  12. Fill in the processing information so Fiserv can understand what volume of transactions you’re looking to accept.

TIP: Be realistic and keep the numbers in line with what your business currently does.
  13. Click on "Ok. Looks. great, let's move on!" at the bottom.

  14. On the Equipment page, click on "Ok. Looks. great, let's move on!" at the bottom. Since the integration between Fiserv and ServiceCore is all online, no equipment is needed.

  15. On the Agreements page, click on the arrow next to each form and scroll to the bottom of each document, reading them as you go.
  16. Once you’ve reviewed the terms, complete the form by adding the owner’s full name and clicking the "I Agree" button.

Most accounts will be approved within 24 hours, however, some accounts will need additional documentation to verify the information provided.

One of our payment account executives will work with you if additional information is needed. We will also inform you once your account has been approved and enabled in your ServiceCore account.
