Global Search gives you a single, powerful search bar to find records from anywhere in ServiceCore no matter what page you're on.
Instead of trying to figure out where a particular record is, you can search directly from the top of the page and get results instantly.
It's especially useful when you're mid-call and need to pull up a client, invoice, or rental quickly without losing your place.
Before You Start
Here are a few things to know before you continue:
- To see if you have access to this feature in ServiceCore, please check out this article on user permission levels.
- Search results depend on the information saved in each record.
About Global Search
Each search category looks at different fields in your records. Depending on the category you select, you can search for:
- Customers: Search by customer ID number, first/last name, company/organization, street address, city, zip, phone number (primary or secondary), or email address.
- Contacts: Search by the name, email, or phone number of any contact attached to a customer's profile.
-
Jobs: Search by job number, purchase order (PO) number, job name, or the name/organization of the customer being billed.
- When you search Jobs, a default date range is auto-applied to your results. It begins two weeks before today's date and ends two weeks after today's date. Change the date range on the results page to view different jobs.
-
Rentals: Search by rental ID number, purchase order (PO) number, customer name, organization, phone number, site name, site address, or the name of a product on the rental.
- When you search Rentals, the results will default to In Progress rentals only. Change the Status filter on the results page to see different rentals.
- Sites: Search by site ID number, name, street address, suite/unit, city, or zip code.
- Systems: Search by system name or by text in the system’s notes.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
These FAQs address common questions and quick clarifications to help you use this feature with confidence.
Can I Search with Part of a Word or Number?
Yes! Partial words and numbers will work, so you can search something like “smith” to find “Smithson” or “450” to find a site named “1450 Oak”.
Can I Search with More Than One Piece of Information?
Yes, but only for Customers, Contacts, Jobs, Sites, and Systems.
Your words can match different fields, so searching something like “Acme Denver” can find the customer you're looking for even though the company name and city are separate fields the customer's profile.
For Rentals, your whole search term must appear in one field, exactly as you type it.
How Do I Search by Phone Number?
For Customers, type the number with any format and the search will handle the formatting for you.
For Rentals, you'll need to type the number exactly as it appears in the rental record.
Why Doesn’t My Rental Appear in Search Results?
Rentals appear in search results only when they have both a customer and a site attached. If a rental is missing either one, the search won't include it in your results.
TIP: Check the Status filter on the results page since the In Progress status is applied to results by default. You may need to change it to Scheduled or Done.
Can I Search Systems by Anything Else?
No. The Systems search only looks at the system name and the text in the system’s notes.
TIP: If you’d like to see more search options for Systems, please share that feedback with our Support team!
