The Line Item by Class Report provides a detailed breakdown of invoice line items organized by class. Use this report to analyze how revenue is distributed across categories such as service types, business divisions, or sales channels. By reviewing line-item activity by class, you can identify trends, track financial performance, and support accounting workflows.
Before You Start
- Classes must be assigned to invoice line items for data to appear in this report.
- To see if you have access to this report in ServiceCore, please check out this article on user permission levels.
Key Features
- Summary: Overview of line item totals grouped by division and class.
- Filtering Options: Narrow results with filters such as invoice status, division, and class.
- Details Table: Detailed information for each line item grouped by class where you can drill-down into invoices.
Run the Line Item by Class Report
- Click “Reports” in the top menu.
- Scroll down and find Line Item by Class listed under Customer Service and Sales Reports.
- Click the name of the report or the “Open Report” icon to open and run the report.
Line Item by Class Report Summary
Once the report loads, the summary at the top gives you a quick snapshot of the quantity of line items in the report, the subtotal, and graphs breaking down total by Division and Class.
This section provides key insights, including:
- Quantity: Total quantity of line items. Partial numbers indicate prorated quantities.
- Subtotal: Quantity of line items multiplied by their rates.
- Total by Division: Pie chart that displays a breakdown of the subtotal by Division.
- Total by Class: Pie chart that displays a breakdown of the subtotal by Class.
Line Item by Class Report Filters and Table
On the right-side of the report, there are options to select a timeframe and filter results.
- Issued At: Filter to see line items from transactions within a specific timeframe. This defaults to last month.
- Type: Narrow results to show line items from specific transaction types.
- Division: Filter report by division.
- Account Name: Filter report by account name.
- Account Code: Narrow results by account code.
- Class: Narrow results by internal business class.
- Invoice Status: Filter results to show paid or unpaid invoices, credit memos, or refunds.

Company: Narrow report by Company.
- This filter is only applicable if you manage multiple companies in ServiceCore.
Details Table
The table under the summary breaks down each line item and provides additional details including invoice number, description, and totals.
Expand Information in the Details Table
The Details table displays high-level totals for the classes included in the report. To drill down into the finer details for a class, click the “+” icon next to the Class name.
This will expand the line item details for that class to the right. Clicking the “+” icon at the top of the column, next to Class, will expand all class, line items, invoice status, and invoice details for all classes in the table.
Please Note: In general, when a “+” icon appears, it means that there is an opportunity to expand additional details for a given section or line item.
Sort a Section of the Report
After using the filters based on your preferences, you have additional options to sort the data that is presented in the report in the different report sections.
To sort a the report section:
- Hover over the section so a menu appears in the top right corner of the section.
- Click the three vertical dots.
- In the menu that appears, hover over “Sort.”
- Select your “Sort By” preference.
The table in the report works a little differently as you can also use the table headers to sort.
To sort sections using the table headers:
- Click the options icon next to the header.
- In the menu that appears, hover over “Sort.”
- Select your “Sort By” preference.
Export or Send the Line Item by Class Report
Export the Report
Once you have a section of your report displaying the information you want, you can download it for your records.
- Hover over the section so a menu appears in the top right corner of the table.
- Click the three vertical dots.
- In the menu that appears, hover over “Export.”
- Select your file preference in the list of options that appear in the dropdown and the report will download in the file format you selected.
- When exporting as a PDF, you can choose Portrait or Landscape layout.
- When exporting as a PDF, you can choose Portrait or Landscape layout.
Please Note: You can export up to 1 million rows at a time. If your table contains more than 1 million rows, we recommend using filters to break the data into smaller, exportable chunks.
Send the Report
In addition to downloading a section of the report to your computer, you can also email a section.
- Hover over the section so a menu appears in the top right corner of the table.
- Click the three vertical dots.
- In the menu that appears, hover over “Export.”

Click “Export…” at the bottom of the list under the Send section.

In the pop-up that appears, click into the Destination field and select “Email” in the drop-down menu.
- Enter the email address of the recipient.

Click “Export” to send an email with the report attached.
Please Note: On the final screen, you can also customize the email subject, select specific attachments and file types, or send the report as a .zip file.
