Assigning a driver and a piece of equipment to a territory keeps your Schedule visually organized. Once assigned, jobs within that territory and the driver's column both pick up the territory's color, making it easy to see at a glance who's covering which area.
Before You Start
Here are a few things to know before you continue:
- To see if you have access to this feature in ServiceCore, please check out this article on user permission levels.
- You'll need an existing territory to assign a driver and equipment to. If you haven't created one yet, check out this article on adding a territory.
- You'll need existing equipment to assign. If you haven't added yours yet, check out this article on adding equipment.
- Each territory can only have one driver and one piece of equipment assigned to it at a time.
Assign a Driver and Equipment to a Territory
Each territory can have one driver and one piece of equipment assigned to it. You'll manage these assignments together in one place, in the Preferences tab of your Schedule settings.
To assign a driver and equipment to a territory, follow these steps:
- Click your name in the top-right corner.
- Select "Settings."
- Click "Schedule."
-
You'll land on the Preferences tab, where all your territories are listed along with Driver and Equipment dropdowns.
- Find the territory you want to assign in the list.
- Select a Driver from the dropdown.
-
Select a piece of Equipment from the dropdown.
-
Scroll down to the bottom of your list of territories and click "Save.”
Please Note: The "Save" button only appears once you've made a selection in a Driver or Equipment dropdown. Your changes won't take effect until you click "Save."
View Assignments on the Schedule
Once a driver and equipment are assigned to a territory, you'll see that connection reflected on your Schedule.
- Jobs located within a territory display a color band matching that territory's color.
- The assigned driver's column header also displays that same color band.
- The assigned equipment appears in the driver's column header as well.
This makes it easy to see which driver and truck are covering a territory without leaving the Schedule page.
