About Attachments

There are several ways to save attachments in your ServiceCore account and send them to your customers as needed.

Files like job site photos, warranty documents, unit damage images, contract documents, and more can be saved and shared with customers for audit purposes, legal documentation, and proof against at-fault claims.

Before You Start

Here are a few things to know before you continue:

  1. There's no limit on how many files you can upload to any location that allows attachments.
  2. Individual files cannot be larger than 6MB.
  3. If you're uploading file to send it as an email attachment, the combined size of all attachments in that email cannot be larger than 15MB.
  4. In order to download and view attachments, you must have a program installed on your device that can open the file type.
  5. In order to download and view attachments, you must have sufficient storage space available on your device.
  6. Message and/or data rates may apply when downloading attachments using your cellular data service.

Supported File Formats

ServiceCore supports most, but not all, file types as attachments.

TIP: If the file type you'd like to upload as an attachment isn't supported in the below table, you can usually find a free file type convertor tool online that'll turn your file into an extension type that's supported in ServiceCore.

Extension Type
.jpeg, .jpg, .png, .gif, .bmp Image Files
.txt Text Files
.doc, .docx Microsoft Word Document
.xls, .xlsx Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet
.ppt, .pptx Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation
.pdf Adobe PDF Documents
.ai Adobe Illustrator File
.eps, .ps PostScript File
.svg Scalable Vector Graphics
.tif, .tiff TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) Image

Where to Attach Files

There are 7 ways to add attachments in your ServiceCore account:

  1. In a customer's profile under the Attachments section.

  2. When adding or editing a System.

  3. In a Job's details page at the top.

  4. In a Job's details page in the middle.

  5. In a Site's details page under the Attachments section.

  6. When creating or editing a one time Invoice.

  7. When creating or editing a Credit Memo.

Drivers can also upload photos using ServiceCore's mobile app during job completion. This is a great way for them to save job site and inventory photos as proof of services rendered and/or unit damage.

Please Note: Only photos can be added through the mobile app. Drivers cannot attach documents or other file types.

There are 3 ways a driver can attach photos to a job in the mobile app:

  1. Before starting a job.

  2. During a job.

  3. After finishing a job.

When drivers tap "Take Photo" they'll see an option to upload an existing photo or to take a new one using their device's camera.

TIP: Your drivers will need to allow Camera permissions for ServiceCore's mobile app in their device's settings in order to attach photos.

Open and View Attachments

Depending on which browser you're using and your browser settings, you may have different options to open, view, download, and print attachments.

When you click on an attachment, the file may:

  • Open immediately in a new browser tab or window.
  • Show a dialogue box that prompts you to save the file to your local hard drive or internal/SD storage card.
  • Immediately download to the file/folder location you have setup by default.
  • Show an icon, warning or alert asking if you want to download the file.
    • For example, on Safari you may see a blue download icon that you'll need to click on before you can open and view attachments.

TIP: If you have any problems opening, viewing, printing, or saving attachments, check that your download settings are configured properly on your device.
