FAQs About Offline Work in the Mobile App

The ServiceCore Mobile App is built to keep drivers working even when connectivity drops. This article answers common questions about how the app handles low or no connectivity.

How will I know if my device has lost connectivity?

When your device loses service, a "Low Connectivity" banner appears at the bottom of the app.

As you complete jobs, the banner updates to show "Changes Waiting to Sync" with a count of pending updates. Tap “View” to open the Sync Queue and see what's waiting to sync.

What happens when I get back online and I have unsynced changes?

The app syncs your changes automatically once connectivity returns. If your changes don't sync on their own, open the Sync Queue and tap “Sync” to trigger it manually.

You can access the Sync Queue two ways:

  • Tap “View” in the "Changes Waiting to Sync" banner
  • Tap the “hamburger” menu and select “Sync Queue”

Does offline work apply when I use the ServiceCore website on a mobile device?

No. The offline functionality only works in the ServiceCore Mobile App. If you try to access ServiceCore through a mobile browser without connectivity, you won't be able to use it.

Download and set up the app using the instructions in Download and Set Up the ServiceCore Mobile App for Drivers

I work in an area with great cell coverage. Why should I care about downloading inventory?

Even reliable coverage can drop unexpectedly in tunnels, rural areas, or underground locations. If your inventory isn't downloaded before you lose service, you won't be able to see or manage it while offline. Downloading inventory at the start of your day or before heading into a known dead zone keeps your jobs running without interruption. For instructions, see Manage Inventory While Offline Using the Mobile App

What happens if I don't download my inventory before going offline?

You won't be able to see or manage your inventory in the app. This means you can't record inventory activity on rental jobs until you're back in range. To avoid this, download your inventory before you lose connectivity. For instructions, see Manage Inventory While Offline Using the Mobile App

What information is unavailable in the Mobile App when I'm offline?

Most job information is available offline, but the following is not:

  • Past and future jobs on the schedule (only today's jobs are visible)
  • The ability to download inventory
  • The Actions menu (directions, map view, job reordering, and ETA texts)

How can I test what the app looks like offline?

Put your device in Airplane Mode to simulate a loss of connectivity. This lets you see exactly how the app behaves and what's available before you're out in the field without service.
